My name is Jo, and I am a writer, spoken word artist and sometime comedian.
Tales fae the Doric Side was started to allow me to share some of my work. How can a writer hope to become a writer if her work never sees the light of day? After a few meanderings off the writer’s path, I’ve come full circle. I completed an MLitt in Writing, Practice and Study at The University of Dundee in 2017 – receiving a distinction.
What an amazing time I’ve had since then! I’ve gone from the person too scared to share any of her writing to spoken word artist and sometime comedian in such a short time. I’ve been published in Northwords Now, the FWS New Voices Anthology and online in New Boots and Pantisocracies
I’ve performed work all over Scotland, written loads, won three poetry slams, including StAnza 2018 and I’m still being inspired to write. I’ve had plenty knock-backs too, but that’s to be expected. Being a writer is meant to be 9 tenths rejection.
